Collective bargaining shapes the way public schools are organized, financed, staffed, and operated. Despite the tremendous influence of teachers unions, however, there has not been a significant research-based book examining the role of collective bargaining in education in decades/5(5). When it comes to public discussion of school reform, teachers unions are the proverbial elephant in the room. This article outlines the significant legal decisions regarding collective bargaining in Catholic schools, identifies the governance structures employed in Catholic schools and the methods of translating these governance structures into documents required by civil law, and concludes with the citation of two recent court decisions that demonstrate the method of incorporation and the day-to-day Author: John T.
